Human Trafficking Globally

Human trafficking is one of the fastest‑growing crimes and a highly profitable $236 billion industry.

To put that into scale, it is roughly the size of the global music, movie, and video game industries together, more than the GDP of over 100 countries, or equivalent to about $650 million every single day.

Cases are reported in all 50 states, involving both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals.

Trafficking occurs across many industries, not just the ones most commonly portrayed.

At Yada, our work focuses on survivors of sex trafficking and individuals who have been sexually exploited, so that will be our focus today.

Sex Trafficking or Commercial Sexual Exploitation is the form of human trafficking that involves "the use of force, fraud or coercion to induce another individual to sell sex".

This can be in-person or via the internet, and sometimes images of an individual are sold/shared without the knowledge or permission of the victim.

It also includes ANY sexual act performed with a minor…there are no child prostitutes.

It's hard to stop trafficking until you see trafficking for what it really is.
